The Wedding Service

To make the day memorable from the start, Roderick will greet guests as they arrive with a lively set of pipe tunes for the wedding ceremony. The bride will be greeted before being piped in to the ceremony. Roderick can play as guests are leaving, and provide a few tunes while pictures are being taken.

The bride, groom and guests, will be piped into the reception venue, where Roderick can be on call for photos. In the absence of a toastmaster, Roderick can announce dinner, and the top table line up. The bride and groom can then be piped to the wedding cake, before taking their seats. It is traditional, and ceremonious for the bride to present the piper with a dram(to congratulate him on his duties) to which Roderick will respond with a Gaelic toast, before piping himself out.

This is the popular package, but any special request can be incorporated to customise your special day.

If there are foreign visitors to the wedding, and Haggis has been arranged as part of the wedding breakfast, Roderick will be happy to recite Robert Burns's Address to the Haggis, which can add a sense of theatre to your special day.

Roderick is also happy to perform the quaich ceremony. This can be appropriate for more intimate weddings, as guests share a drink from Scotlands 'loving cup', to extend their friendship

If you are looking for a ceilidh band, for your evening's entertainment, Roderick can help. With the experience of playing with bands for many years, Roderick can put together a group to make your entertainment come alive. From the sounds of the accordion, keyboard, and drums, to bigger bands, with bouzoukis, fiddles, and pipes. If the guests are not all seasoned Scottish dancers, a caller can give an explanation and walkthrough prior to the dances.
