Looking for a fun bagpipe lesson? Learn the bagpipes in a workshop led by Roddy. 

Roddy works with a range of groups looking for a fun introduction to the mighty highland bagpipe. We offer a hands-on bagpipe lesson experience. Guests learn finger-work on the practice chanter, before transferring their skills to playing the bagpipes.

Fun Bagpipe Workshops for groups

Bagpipe workshops can range from having a blow experience to a fully tutored group session. The lesson lasts between 20 and 60 minutes, depending on numbers and lip strength. Usually, groups of 10-30 are great for beginner lessons.  Although, we can offer experiences for couples and families as well.

For larger groups, Roddy can also incorporate some Scottish dancing activities.

If you have more than 30 people, we can run two bagpipe workshops simultaneously, for up to 60 guests with two bagpipe tutors.  Alternatively, we sometimes rotate groups between Scottish dancing, bagpipe playing, and sometimes even a whisky-tasting experience.

• Corporate groups looking for a team build activity
• Travelling choirs, who want to experience the music of Scotland
• Incentive travel providers, who create Scottish experiences for winners 
• TV and social media hosts, who want to create shareable Scottish content
• Stag and Hen groups.. who want to have a fun experience. 
• People who just want to play bagpipes. 

This is a fun experience that you will not have had before. We can add in some tartan hats and sashes if you want to grab some media ready snaps of your experience.

We provide:

Practice Chanters for each player in the group.

One set of bagpipes, which each guest gets to play.

Antibacterial wipes to keep everything hygienic between players.

What you need for a bagpipe workshop:

• A lot of puff.
• Some water.
• A sense of humour, cunning and perseverance.
• A space to do the experience (where we can get away with making noise)

We can recommend and book some spaces if your hotel cannot accommodate.

We also come to apartments, for surprise experiences (as long as it has been cleared with the host!!)

Other Scottish workshops

With his company Reel Time Events, Roddy also runs a Ceilidh dancing and whisky tasting experience. This partners the bagpipe workshops with ceilidh dancing and other fun Scottish experiences. Guests can learn a few easy and fun ceilidh dances which can get them ready for a full-on ceilidh night in Edinburgh city centre, or great for corporate groups with a ceilidh band for their gala dinner.
