About David

David Burnside is an excellent Grade 1 piper with a wide range of experience. He is available for any occasion including Weddings, Burns Suppers (he can provide an animated Haggis Address!), Formal Dinners, Birthdays, Corporate or any other events.

David started learning to play the pipes when he was only 6 years old and started taking professional engagements at the age of 14. Since then he has had a variety of experiences that includes competing with Grade 1 pipe bands the Clan Gregor Society and Peoples Ford Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia. In 2012, David won the European and Cowal Championships with Boghall and Bathgate, performed onstage at the highly successful pre-worlds concert at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and played in the bells on the BBC’s Hogmanay Live with Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham.

He has also performed at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and the Moscow Military Tattoo with the Scottish UOTC Pipes and Drums, and has played at weddings and other engagements all over the world. With this experience, an extremely professional and musical performance is guaranteed.

His favourite tune is a two parted Reel called the Pocket Watch by Matheu Watson. David is one of our pipers who plays with the Reel Time Ceilidh Band, Scraggly Cats and Tartanium bands, and he can also play for Highland Dancers. He teaches privately across the central belt with a number of promising young players under his instruction. His special bagpipe move is the “g gracenote” – not to be underestimated.

Both his Number 1 and Number 2 Dress is Ancient Hunting Fraser, primarily blue in colour.

If you’d like to hire David, please just mention his name when completing the contact form.
